Research progress on superconductor metamaterials

  • As a kind of artificial electromagnetic material, metamaterials have shown powerful capabilities of manipulating electromagnetic waves. Superconducting materials possess specific advantages in the research of metamaterials due to their properties, including low loss, diamagnetism, macroscopic quantum effect, and tuning characteristics. This paper summarizes the research progress of superconducting metamaterials. Firstly, the development status of several types of superconducting metamaterials is categorized and summarized. Next, the applications of superconducting metamaterials in scientific research and engineering are introduced. Finally, the development trend of superconducting metamaterials is prospected.
