Abstract:
A novel potentially useful organometallic nonlinear optical crystal,manganese mercury thiocyanate-bis(N-methylformamide),MnHg(SCN)
4(HCONHCH
3)
2(MMTN) has been prepared in a mixed solution of water and N-methylformamide.Its thermal and optical properties are studied by using thermogravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis(TGA/DTA),differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),calorimetry,thermomechanical analysis,UV-Vis-NIR,infrared,Raman and X-ray powder diffraction spectroscopy.MMTNe crystal possesses relatively high physicochemical stability.The specific heat of the crystal is 635.1 J.mol-1 K-1 at 300 K.The thermal expansion coefficient along the a,b,and c axis is a

-6 K
-1,respectively.The UV transparency cutoff is 354 nm,which is shifted to the violet by 19 nm,as compared with MnHg(SCN) 4(MMTC).MMTN possesses fine optical transparent in the wavelength region of 360-2000 nm.
