Abstract: The presence of the photonic band gap does not lead only to appearances of lots of new materials and devices but also creates a specific physical environment,that is,a periodically dielectric field on the wave length scale.This periodically dielectric field on the wave length scale creates a new possibility for the modulation of the photophysical process and photoelectric property of photoelectric materials.The recent progresses on spontaneous emission,energy transfer and photo-catalysis modulated by the photonic band gap were reviewed in this paper.
