Abstract:
The composite materials with nanoscale rare-earths doped non-oxides clusters embedded in silica glass may combine the advantages of non-oxides glasses and silica glass in light amplifying,chemical,thermo-dynamical,and mechanical properties,to offer new materials for practical 1.3μm,wide band 1.5μm,and newly developed 1.4μm applications.The fluorescence spectrum centered at 1315nm of one of the materials is measured identical with that of the rare-earth doped gallium zirconium fluoride glass,while the lifetime is marginally longer.The absorption spectral line widths of the composite materials with Pr
3+ and Nd
3+ as active ions are broadened up to 10nm than the reference line widths of Pr
3+ and Nd
3+ doped ZBLAN.The optical spectroscopy properties of the composite materials may benefit gain of device and relax the requirement on pumping sources.
