Abstract:
A novel sodium alginate-graph-poly (acrylic acid-co-acrylamide)/kaolin super absorbent composite was synthesized using N,N-methylenebisacrylamide as a crosslinker and potassium persulfate as an initiator in aqueous solution. The results show that further treatment of super absorbent composite products containing kaolin is easier than that of pure polyacrylic acid salt super absorbent. Under the condition that the degree of neutralization of acrylic acid is 70%,the effects of the amount of monomer mass ratio, kaolin, initiator, crosslinker, and the temperature on water absorbency were investigated. The optimum reaction conditions were obtained. Water absorbency in distilled water and tap water at room temperature for 30 min was about 350 g/g-1and 50 g/g-1,respectively.
