Abstract: The nature of Faraday effect in magneto-optical glass is briefly described and the history of researches on the rotation glass is reviewed. In addition, a few magneto-optical glasses containing high-concentration rare-earth ions are introduced for their potential applications in all-optical fiber sensing field. At last, the problems existing in the current researches are discussed.
