Abstract:
Progress in recent years in the field of electrochromic displays based on viologen modified high-surface area nanocrystalline TiO
2 film electrodes has moved the technology towards commercialisation.A electrochromic device based on a transparent nanostructured TiO
2 film modified by organic electrochromphores supported on conducting glass is described.By the chemiabsorption between hydroxyl groups on the surface of nanostructured TiO
2 film and phosphonic acid attachment groups which are derivatised on the viologen molecules,we obtain a E-paper device with excellent properties of electrochromic. The electrolyte is 0.05mol/L LiClO
4 and 0.05mol/L ferrocene in 1,4-butyrolactone and the counter electrode is conducting glass. It is showed that this electrochromic device is of high stable, its respond time is less millisecond, suggests an electrochromic technology with commercial potential in the field of display in the future.
