Abstract:
Green-emitting phosphors of lanthanum borophosphate doped with Ce
3+,Tb
3+ and Gd
3+ have been prepared using BPO
4 and rare earth oxides. The spectroscopic properties of Ce
3+,Tb
3+ and Gd
3+ and interaction among them in lanthanum borophosphate have been studied. There exist three kinds of energy transfer of Ce
3+→Gd
3+, Gd
3+→Tb
3+ and Ce
3+→Tb
3+ . The addition of Gd
3+ to lanthanum borophosphate doped with Ce
3+, Tb
3+ leads to a decrease in Ce
3+ emission intensity, a sharp increase in
5D
4→
7F
J emission intensity of Tb
3+ and no obvious change in
5D
3→
7F
J emission intensity, which is in favor of enhancing intensity and purity of green emission. Compared with lanthanum borophosphate, gadolinium borophosphate used as the matrix material enhances intensity and purity of luminescence, as well as the x value of chromatic coordinates. So the phosphors of La(BO
3,PO
4):Ce,Tb,Gd and Gd(BO
3,PO
4):Ce,Tb are the desired materials with green emission.
