Abstract:
YAG was synthesized by mechanically activated spark plasma sintering(SPS).The effects of different ball milling time on the grain size of raw materials and the sintered synthesis were studied.In this process,X-ray diffraction(XRD) and scanning electric microscopy(SEM) were used to analyze the reaction process and the appearance and phase structure of synthesized sample.It was found that MA of Y
2O
3 and Al
2O
3 powders may refine the oxide particles.After MA 20h,the crystalline size of Y
2O
3 and Al
2O
3 powders was 34nm and 28nm,respectively.Ball milled Y
2O
3 and Al
2O
3 powders possess very high activity,which may enhance the synthesis of YAG by SPS.SPS of MA20h powers may synthesized pure YAG at 1200℃,and obtained YAG with the relative density of 99.5% at 1500℃.The transmittance of the bulk was 13.8% in the visible region.
