Abstract: Hybrid recording is a new recording method which combines all the advantages of magnetic data storage and magneto-optical data storage, It is characterized by laser-assisted recording and flux detection readout, with advantages of super high-density, high resolution and high sensitivity. The general principle, recording medium and research development of the hybrid recording are intro-duced in the paper. The future of hybrid recording is also discussed.
