Abstract:
Titanium oxide film and titanium nitride film were synthesized on the surface of titanium, low temperature isotropic pyrolytic carbon and cobalt alloy by ion beam enhanced deposition. The non-stoichiometrical amorphous titanium oxide films were obtained. Blood compatibility and mechanical properties of the films were investigated. It is shown that blood compatibility and surface mechanical properties of biomaterials were improved significantly by the coating of titanium oxide/titanium nitride films. The mechanism of blood compatibility of the films was discussed.
