Abstract:
Copper clad aluminum magnesium alloy wires have extensive application in the high frequency signal cable. It can greatly save copper resources to create high economic benefits,also keep the excellent electrical performance under the same working condition. In this paper,adding trace elements of Sc to Al-1. 2Mg alloys,the structure,mechanical properties,heat resistance and electric conductivity performance were analyzed to discuss the feasibility of Al-Mg-Sc alloys used as the conductor materials. The results show that adding trace elements of Sc could significantly refine grain size,and greatly improve the mechanical properties. Meanwhile,Al-Mg-Sc alloys could obtain good heat resistance,but the electrical conductivity decreased slightly. This provided the possibility that the 5 series aluminum alloy wires couldbe used in the application of high strength power cable.
